Extremely great service very patient and great personalities! The food was on point very traditional and so were the junk foods! If you or your family are Guatemalan you're in for a laugh! The tables are filled with old sayings that will either teach you about your family's childhood or bring a nostalgic feeling! We got 5 plates and none of them disappointed they all were so flavorful! we left very satisfied and will absolutely come back and bring friends!

fantastic food, friendly service, and the interior feels like a cute local shop in guatemala. This is likely the best south american food you will have around here.

Good good and the nice lady at the register let me know I could do a combo on the doblados since I couldn't make up my mind. Ended up trying the beef, chicken and veggie (spinach with cheese). Quick service, friendly staff, will be back.

- Garnachas: 8/10 Love that the toasted tortilla was the right amount of crisp, and held up the toppings well so I could enjoy each bite. - Estofodo de res: 8/10 Savory! Wasn't too mild or too spicy, it didn't pack a powerful punch flavor-wise, but for some reason I kept wanting to eat it lol. Good choice if you want a balanced flavored meal. - Horchata: 8/10 I haven't tried many horchatas, but this one is my favorite so far! I just learned they serve El Salvadoran horchata, no wonder it's creamier and nuttier! Yummy! Shoutout to Margarita our waitress! Thanks for serving us

Hands down the best chicken burrito currently in El Cerrito and in the East Bay. There, I said it! As El Cerrito residents, we couldn't be more happier that Antojitos Guatemaltecos is here. There's something so special about going into a new restaurant in town and falling in love with the people behind it and feeling that same love mixed into every ingredient, making this spot worthy of praise and sharing with others. Recently we tried a few other items from their menu, solidifying there isn't anything tried we haven't wholeheartedly enjoyed. There is something unique for whatever you're feeling or craving from 9a-9p. For early risers, the Guatemalan style breakfast (eggs, beans, cheese, fried plantains, sour cream and pork sausage, $12) and breakfast tortas of choice are so delicious and full of flavor. We've also heard not to sleep on their fried chicken plates for lunch or dinner either! At a recent holiday event they were serving the community fresh and complimentary to the public, Dobladas (Guatemalan beef empanadas) and Atole de Elote (an amazingly warm and sweet corn drink). Both worth going back for! For super affordable prices and a menu worthy of exploration, check out Antojitos Guatemaltecos on your next trip out.

Like others said the Gancharas are tasty. Don't expect flavor overload. These are super clean in taste and like another review said a cross between a tostada and a pupusa. The veggies in the middle have a nice spice profile that is a welcome addition to top your Gancharas. If in the El Cerrito area stop by and try some Guatemalan food.

Cute little place, great service. - the garnachas were tasty - the rice tamale was good. Wasn't sure what to expect, as someone said it was reminiscent of a Chinese rice tamale. I'm not sure I would say it's alike, but I guess it's the idea. - the dobladas were very tasty - the chuchitos were also tasty - the chile relleno was also good - the custard rellenitos were very good - we really enjoyed our Atole de Elote. Just as people said, it's like a warm corn soup. Just be careful, it's really hit and stays hot! - the yellow cherry juice was super yellow! It was ok tasting, but prob not sure what it was supposed to taste like. Unfortunately, the 3 of us prob rushed through our lunch (our issue) and didn't take enough time to really concentrate on each dish. All were good though. It was nice to have some different kind of cuisine to try. Will have to come back.

Come get your Guatemalan meal here. I was in the area and heard about their famous dobladas, a folded tortilla stuffed with delicious cheese and beef. I called to place an order for pickup, it was so easy, and the food was made so quickly! Their beef dobladas are the bestseller, although they also offer chicken. I also had to get their chuchitos aka baby tamales, in a pack of two. The dobladas were the winner for me, but everything was so tasty, flavorful, colorful, and fresh. They do have a tiny lot that can fit a few cars, but you can also opt for street parking which is free. They're located on a busy road, but it's wide so you'll have no problem snagging a spot. The storefront is easy to find, and they also have great signage locations so their advertising is placed in the most optimal spots. The shop inside is clean, quaint, and welcoming. You can tell that they're quite new because the shop wasn't as busy as I thought on a Sunday, but it's only a matter of time before they blow up. The variety of their hot drinks really caught my eye, and I really wanted to try it--maybe next time. Atole de elote, I'm talking about you. I love how Antojitos is very family-friendly. I saw a large Latinx fam eating as well as smaller couples and groups. Everyone working was dressed in colorful and beautiful Guatemalan traditional/Indigenous clothing and that just made me smile. They're also very sweet and took extra care to package my order. It's hard to come by authentic and small-batch experiences these days, and you definitely have to come in to see what I mean. Will def be back to dine in and soak in the vibe of Antojitos next time.

Antojitos Guatemaltecos is your neighborhood, family friendly restaurant. No frills, just good home-cooking and with this area and neighboring city of Richmond being home to a large Mexican dining scene, it was refreshing to see a Guatemalan restaurant offering up traditional dishes. I had my dog with me so I ordered items to go and ate it in the lot. I got the Garnachas -- and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! It's like a marriage of a taco and a pupusa. You get the crunch from a crispy taco shell topped with tender, braised beef and the acidity from the pickled veggies (carrots, onions and cabbage). Absolutely delicious, 5/5. My husband got the pollo frito. It's fried chicken with your choice of rice and potatoes, salad or chao mein (chow mein). You read that right.. chao mein! Here's a little Asian American studies tidbit for you: In the early 1900s, there was a large wave of Chinese immigration to Latin American countries like Guatemala to help take part in building the economy. So yes, chao mein with pollo frito. What a wonderful mix of cultures! The chicken was flavored to perfection and juicy! It wasn't breaded either -- there was no coating of flour or cornstarch. Just straight crispy chicken skin that paired well with their salsas. The chao mein blew my mind as well. I wasn't expecting so much flavor given the lack of color on the noodles. I'm used to seeing a more coated noodle from the soy sauce but this surprised me. You get the hint of celery and onion in every bite and it tastes almost like a Filipino version of pancit canton. Highly recommend getting the pollo frito and noodles (5/5)! I couldn't help but also order a hot beverage the moment I saw atole de elote on the menu. It's a warm, sweet corn drink that's often mixed with cornstarch, cinnamon and or vanilla. This is a hug in a cup and if you love corn like me and the corn kid, this is a no brainer. Perfect dessert or a compliment to tamales (5/5).

I heard about this restaurant in the Richmond Standard and had it bookmarked for quite awhile. It was hard to to find the location because it didn't have a sign out front at first. However, I've been here three times already and I have to say that the tamales are really good! I ordered the three different types: traditional, rice, and chuchitos. The rice tamale tastes like Vietnamese banh chung because it's wrapped in glutinous rice! My favorite is the chuchitos, two small tamales with sour cream and cotija cheese. They say it's small, but I think it's quite enough for one person! I've brought the tamales from here tor my bf to try and he loves them! We ordered chicken dobladas, fried chicken plate, and chicken quesadilla the 3rd time we came in. We love the dobladas! My bf enjoyed his quesadilla too! I ordered the fried chicken plate and the chicken was so crispy and flavorful! You get to choose two sides, so I got it with rice and potato salad, both were great! I've only ordered for takeout, but the woman in front is always friendly. So far, another great restaurant on my list!
